If you have a handgun or you are interested in getting a handgun for personal protection, you need training so you'll know when to use it and how to use it safely and effectively. In today's society, a majority of people learn what they know about guns and personal defense from television and the internet - and discover too late that reality is nothing like what they've seen portrayed. Most people who want to take a training class are very nervous about it or they are worried about how well they'll perform in front of others or with an instructor. I train a lot and I'm always nervous. In fact, any time I shoot around others - even when I'm leading a class - I feel nervous and it's only natural to feel that way. Truth is, the more nervous you are the more you'll gain from attending firearms training. Overcoming that initial challenge helps you start your path towards building confidence, proficiency, and inoculating yourself to stress, all of which are very important when defending yourself with firearms - a time when you will definitely be under stress and pressed for fast, decisive action.
When you train with me you'll find a patient and friendly environment where all the information and practical applications are geared towards helping you develop knowledge and skills that bolster your confidence and your abilities according to your personal needs - regardless of your skill level. There's no one gun for everybody and there's no one method of using a gun for everybody, but there are fundamental shooting principles and predictable human physiological responses to stress that, once understood, will help you become a better shooter and help you develop a keener level of situational awareness. But don't just take my word for it! Sign up for a class and by day's end you'll be glad you came. Proof of your progress will be apparent on your targets and by the smile on your face.
It's training...not a "test". I share and demonstrate practical personal protection tactics and shooting techniques. Everyone participates according to his/her skill level and physical ability. My expectations for a "PASS" during an ENHANCED CARRY CLASS are that each person is present for 8 hours of training that includes both personal defense shooting instruction and discussions regarding legal issues and principles of personal protection. On the range, everyone must demonstrate safe gun handling according to my instructions, participate in shooting drills and discussions to the best of their ability, demonstrate a positive attitude that shows an understanding of the ethical and moral responsibilities of choosing to have a firearm for personal defense, and exhibit a genuine respect for the value of life.
My approach to safety & security is the same as my approach to firearms training - practical. I believe that a proactive approach is the only approach and that subtlety and common sense should be applied. I do not consult on electronic security or surveillance systems - your people are your greatest safety and security asset. I will assist with training personnel for a hands-on/eyes-on application of safety & security measures that meet your organization's goals, whether you choose to have unarmed or armed personnel.
